This place was very nice. Great location and excellent communication with owner. Close to the water. A few things that I think would be nice is a gas fire pit, fans for the suite as there is no A/C, a larger frying pan, recycle boxes, a little better stock of cooking gadgets would be nice, some ziplock bags and a screen door for entry so that you could leave door open for fresh airdefinitely would stay here again with no hesitation

Disappointing stay — significant differences between what was advertised and what was provided. We enjoyed our time in Lake Cowichan and appreciated the location and potential of the North Shore Haven property. The Nook itself is bright, well-appointed, and has a generous furnished patio. Unfortunately, our overall experience was disappointing, particularly because several important features advertised for the property did not match what we experienced during our stay. The biggest concern was the representation of lake access. The North Shore Haven website describes The Nook as being “steps from the water” with direct lake access and a private lakeside beach. It also promotes the property as having private lake access. The Nook is separated from the lake by a 2-lane road, and the dock on the lake was marked “Private.” We therefore had to walk along the road to reach the public beach access. This was very different from the direct/private lake access we expected when booking. There were also concerns about the advertised amenities. The property is promoted as having a sauna, cold plunge and hot tub, but during our stay only the sauna was accessible to us. The sauna was shared by occupants of all three suites and is located immediately outside The Nook. As a result, there was a steady stream of other guests coming and going past the suite, including people we did not know. This was not consistent with the quiet, private retreat we had expected.

Beautiful location, view, space. Sauna is lovely. Lake proximity is great.

The suite was spacious for a one-bedroom, very well equipped, and had a beautiful view of the lake with a fantastic covered patio. The sauna was a bonus and a great way to relax after a day at the lake. It's just a short walk across the road to the beach and dock, where we enjoyed excellent swimming. The only downside was the noise from the unit above. If there are young children staying upstairs, you may be woken around 6:30 a.m. by the sound of them running around. Fortunately, we're early risers, so it wasn't a big issue for us. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay!
